Refund & Dispute Policy

1. Overview
Famous Title is a marketplace platform that connects buyers with independent sellers. Famous Title is not the seller or merchant of record for any purchase made through the platform. Each seller operates their own storefront and is responsible for their own refund and return policies.
This policy describes the framework for handling refunds and disputes on the Famous Title platform. Individual seller refund policies may vary and are displayed on their storefronts.
2. Seller Refund Obligations
Sellers on the Famous Title platform are expected to:
- Clearly communicate their refund and return policies on their storefront
- Honor their stated refund policies
- Respond to buyer refund requests within 3 business days
- Process approved refunds promptly through the platform
- Provide tracking information for return shipments when applicable
If a seller does not have a stated refund policy, buyers may still request a refund by contacting the seller directly or through the dispute resolution process described below.
3. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund for an order placed through Famous Title:
- Step 1: Contact the Seller. Reach out to the seller directly using the contact information on their storefront. Most issues can be resolved directly between buyers and sellers.
- Step 2: Provide Order Details. Include your order number, the reason for your refund request, and any supporting documentation (photos of damaged items, etc.).
- Step 3: Allow Time for Response. Sellers have 3 business days to respond to your request.
- Step 4: Escalate if Needed. If the seller does not respond or you cannot reach a resolution, you may file a dispute with Famous Title (see Section 4).
4. Dispute Resolution Process
If a buyer and seller cannot resolve a refund issue directly, either party may request Famous Title's assistance:
- File a Dispute: Contact support@famoustitle.com with your order number and a description of the issue.
- Investigation: Famous Title will review the dispute, contact both parties, and gather relevant information.
- Resolution: We will work to facilitate a fair resolution. This may include recommending a full or partial refund, return of goods, or other appropriate remedy.
- Timeline: We aim to resolve disputes within 10 business days. Complex cases may take longer.
Famous Title's role in disputes is that of a facilitator. While we will make reasonable efforts to help resolve issues, the ultimate responsibility for fulfillment and refunds lies with the seller.
5. Platform Intervention
In certain circumstances, Famous Title may issue refunds directly to protect buyers. This includes cases of:
- Fraud: The seller engaged in fraudulent activity or misrepresented products.
- Non-Delivery: The order was not delivered and the seller is unresponsive or unable to provide proof of shipment.
- Seller Account Termination: The seller's account has been terminated and there are outstanding orders.
- Significantly Not as Described: The product received is materially different from what was advertised.
When Famous Title issues a refund on behalf of a seller, the amount may be recouped from the seller's pending balance or future earnings as outlined in the Seller Terms of Service.
6. Chargebacks
A chargeback occurs when a buyer disputes a charge directly with their credit card company or bank. We encourage buyers to use our dispute resolution process before filing a chargeback, as chargebacks are costly and time-consuming for all parties.
When a chargeback is filed:
- The seller will be notified and asked to provide evidence to contest the chargeback.
- Famous Title will assist in providing relevant transaction data to support the response.
- The final decision rests with the buyer's card issuer.
- Sellers are responsible for any chargeback fees imposed by Stripe.
- Excessive chargebacks may result in account review or suspension.
